Adrian Peterson has agreed to a plea deal with Texas prosecutors in his child-abuse case, according to ESPN.
Peterson will not serve any jail time as a result. The plan is for Peterson to enter a plea to a lesser charge than the felony child-abuse charge currently brought against him.
The Minnesota Vikings' star running back has been on the commissioner's exempt list since his September indictment. He will enter a plea deal that calls for one misdemeanor count of reckless assault.
Peterson had stated earlier that he would not plead guilty to any charges. However, a plea deal likely expedites Peterson's return to the NFL, even if it is not with the Vikings.
