For all the hype about this year's Clippers team, they've yet to blow out an opponent. Their three wins this season have been decided by a combined 16 points, including a three-point win over a Westbrook- and Durant-less Oklahoma City and a six-point win over Utah.
"We can't relax," Clippers star Chris Paul said after Monday's 107-101 win over Utah, via ESPN. "We have to get that killer mentality, and we have to put teams away. Teams are way too good in this league, especially now, and they aren't going to give up. If we keep doing what we're doing, they're always going to feel like they can get back in the game."
One bright spot for Los Angeles so far has been the improved range of star Blake Griffin. While the All-Star can still throw down dunks, he's been able to hit jumpers from farther out this season, helping him to a 27.5 point-per-game scoring average.
Golden State, meanwhile, is 3-0. Their last win came on Sunday in a 95-90 victory at Portland, thanks in part to the 29 points and three steals from Warriors guard Klay Thompson. The 2-guard has been electric through the team's three games, scoring a team-high 29.7 points per game. His backcourt mate, Stephen Curry, has also chipped in with 25.3 points, helping Golden State to carve out a spot in the Western Conference early.
"It says a lot about the guys we have on this team from top to bottom that no matter what situation you're thrown into that you can somehow produce and allow things to happen," said Curry.
