A New Jersey man has been arrested for robbery, burglary and unlawful possession of a weapon after he attempted to rob a bank using a cordless drill as a handgun on Tuesday, NJ.com reported.
Winslow police arrested 39-year-old Raymond McNeil after a k-9 unit tracked him in a vacant house on Hewitt Lane , according to NJ.com.
The Winslow Township Police Department said he tried to make it seem like the cordless drill was an actual loaded hand gun, NJ.com reported.
The incident occurred at a Wells Fargo Bank branch on Sicklerville Rod in the Winslow Township, according to NJ.com.
The suspect entered the bank wearing a mask, which was also recovered at the vacant house where McNeil was arrested, and began demamding the tellers give him money, using the "object shaped like a gun" to intimidate, NJ.com reported.
After the teller refused, the suspect ran away from the bank on foot toward a housing development, according to NJ.com.
Officers received information that a person matching the suspect was walking toward the development, so a canine unit was sent to the scene, NJ.com reported.
Broken glass was found by the K-9 tracked McNeil outside one of the homes, alongside blood, leading the officers to believe he was inside, according to NJ.com. McNeil ŵas found hiding in an upstairs bedroom inside the home.
The clothes, drill and mask McNeil used in the attempted robbery of the Wells Fargo branch were also found near with McNeil, police said, NJ.com reported. The drill was separately wrapped in a towel.
McNeil has been placed in Camden County Jail with a default full cash bail of $100,000, according to NJ.com.
