Dozens of dead dogs were found in Japan within the past week, sparking a criminal investigation.
Earlier in the week about 40 dead bodies of small breeds of dogs such as Chihuahuas and Toy Poodles were found near a river in eastern Japan, according to police officials.
"Some dogs were in the water and others were scattered around the area," a local police spokesman told Hindustan Times, adding that some of the animals were wearing pet clothing.
Thirty more bodies were found close to last week's incident police are investigating if the two situations are related, reports IOL News. The canine bodies are apparantly beginning to decay.
Police suspect an animal undertaker could have dumped the dogs in the area, but this is still speculation as authorities say they are still investigating.
