Robert Downey Jr. and wife Susan Downey welcomed a baby girl Tuesday, the actor confirmed through a post via social networking site Facebook.
The post read: "After 9 months of intensive development, Team Downey is pleased to announce our 2014 fall/winter project. Principal photography commenced 11-14 and will continue until she says, "Dad! You are embarrassing me...I'm 30, this has gotta stop." Yep...Avri Roel Downey joined the party @ 3:22 a.m. on November 4th...she's 7lbs even, spans 20 inches, and is accompanied by a variety of Susan's traits that have seemingly overwritten my "junk DNA". I'll post pics here + there when I'm not too busy staring...," the New York Daily News reports.
The couple married in August 2005, ABC News reports. Their daughter is Downey's third child. He has a 2-year-old son, Exton Elias Downey, from Susan and another, Indio Downey, from his first marriage with Deborah Falconer
In July 2014, the "Iron Man" star announced via Twitter that he and his producer wife were expecting their second child together. Immediately after, the 49-year-old actor took to Facebook, where he wrote: "I don't know if it's a 'man's world,' but I'm certain women run it. Susan and I are therefore delighted to announce we are expecting a baby. Girl."
Some weeks later, he reportedly joked with E! News, that since he "never had a daughter before," he hadn't the slightest idea what really prepares a dad of a daughter. "I'm asking around. But I did my part and now I'm just going to show up and do what I'm told."
