Rafael Nadal and David Ferrer meet on Sunday for the 2013 French Open Final. The match begins at 9 a.m. ET. You can tune into ABC or watch the Final live stream HERE.
Nadal, the favorite to win the Final, has worked hard to reach the grand stage of Roland Garros after recovering from a knee injury. He struggled to regain form in the early round matches against Daniel Brands and Martin Klizan, Sports.co.uk reports. His greatest challenge yet came Friday morning in a five-set battle with No. 1 seeded Novak Djokovic. It took Nadal four and a half hours to come away with the win, 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, 6-7, 9-7.
Ferrer, by contrast, has "breezed" through to the final without dropping a single set. He turned in another stellar performance during Friday's semifinal match against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, winning 6-1, 7-6, 6-2.
Nadal and Ferrer face each other for the 24th time on Sunday. Nadal has won nineteen of their 23 previous matches, including the last five straight. But if Ferrer is to dethrone Nadal at the French Open, this is the year. Ferrer's string of steady performances, coupled with Nadal's recovery from his knee injury, should make the match a much close bout.
While Ferrer looks to win his first French Open title, Nadal is on the quest for his eighth.
