Marvel fans across the pond will have the first look at new cinematic superheroes Doctor Strange, Black Panther and the Inhumans before their movies hit U.S. screens.
Seven of the nine films in Marvel's Phase 3 slate will premiere in the U.K. before they open in North America, according to The Independent. The movies will open about a week before the U.S. premiere dates.
Previous Marvel films "The Avengers" and "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" also opened two weeks prior in the U.K. The movies opening early over the next five years include "Captain America: Civil War," "Doctor Strange," "Guardians of the Galaxy 2," "Black Panther," "Inhumans" and "Avengers: Infinity War" parts one and two.
"Thor: Ragorak" and "Captain Marvel" will open at the same time in both countries. "Captain Marvel" will feature Marvel's first lead-female superhero and "Black Panther" will give the studio its first black lead character.
Marvel announced its ambitious Phase 3 slate during a special event at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood on Oct. 28. The studio president Kevin Feige invited fans and press to see first the movies on tap to premiere through 2019.
"Avengers" director Joss Whedon and "Captain America" directors Anthony and Joe Russo both made special appearances at the event. Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. also attended to introduce their "Captain America 3" co-star Chadwick Boseman who will star as Black Panther.
Marvel's Phase 2 will wrap up next summer with "Avengers: Age of Ultron" on May 1 and "Ant-Man," starring Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas" on July 17.
