Not many foresaw the Rockets starting the season with a 5-0 record. While they regressed on paper during the offseason, Houston has had anything but a slow start. Newcomer Trevor Ariza has provided consistent scoring for the Rockets, averaging 17.6 points per game while shooting an incredibly 60 percent from the 3-point line.

Rockets star James Harden has been even better, averaging 27.2 points, 7.4 assists and 6.8 rebounds per game, and center Dwight Howard is scoring 17.2 points and 10.6 rebounds per game.

Harden credited the team's success to his teammates, whom he said are taking some of the pressure off him.

"You've got the most dominant big man in the league roaming around the rim so somebody has to take him," Harden said, via ESPN. "And then you have tremendous shooters on the wing. It's pretty hard to guard."

San Antonio, meanwhile, has started their title defense with two wins and one loss. Their one loss came against the Phoenix Suns, but they managed to bounce back with a slim 94-92 win on Wednesday against the visiting Atlanta Hawks.

Tony Park is averaging 19.7 points and 5.3 assists per game, Tim Duncan is averaging 15.7 points and 11.7 rebounds per game and Manu Ginobili is averaging 11.3 points per game. While the Spurs' big three aren't underperforming, Ginobili admitted the team as a whole needs to improve.

"We need to be sharper and execute better," he said.
