Fantasy Football: Denver Broncos Running Back Ronnie Hillman is a Prime Trade Target

For most fantasy football leagues, the trade deadline is fast approaching. Some teams are undoubtedly trying to dig themselves out of an early season hole, while others are trying to load up for a strong playoff push.

Either way, targeting the right players via trade could swing the outcome of your season. That's why experts are suggesting Denver Broncos running back Ronnie Hillman as a prime trade target before the deadline.

"In addition to having better ball security [than Montee Ball], Hillman is being heavily featured in the Broncos' offense," ESPN's Tim Hasselbeck wrote. "Starting with Week 5, he's had double-digit touches each game and has scored double-digit fantasy points in four of the five games. You take out the game against Arizona - and, by the way, no one is running the ball with success against Arizona - and he's averaged 15.25 fantasy points in that run."

I know what you all are thinking. What is going to happen when Ball returns from injury?

As we saw last year with Knowshon Moreno, the Broncos aren't afraid of riding the hot hand, regardless of where guys were drafted. Ball was a much-hyped second-round pick, but has disappointed so far in his young career. He also has a slightly higher fumble rate than Hillman, a big red flag in Peyton Manning's book.

"After the Raiders this week, the Broncos have the Rams, Dolphins and Chiefs down the stretch of the fantasy season, and those are pretty tough run defenses. But, considering Hillman is going to get the majority of the RB snaps in a high-volume offense, he's a legit starter. Though Juwan Thompson might steal some goal-line carries, there's no need to worry about Hillman losing work to Ball.

"Ultimately, I believe Hillman will remain the featured back in this high-powered offense, and I'd definitely take a chance to get him in a trade."
