Rapper Big Paybacc (real name Habeeb Ameer Zekajj) was shot and killed inside a California McDonald's on Thursday, Nov. 6. According to reports, the 38-year-old "Hard In the Paint" rapper was eating lunch at a Palmdale McDonald's when an unidentified man walked in and fired shots at him.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department told CBS News that the shooting happened around 12:30 p.m. and about 15 people were inside at the time. Sources said the gunman walked right up to Paybacc, pulled the trigger then turned around and left.
"There was no altercation that the [witnesses] saw," a rep told reporters via CBS News. "This guy just walked in through one door, shot him and left out another door. So it looked like something personal. He had something against this individual. It wasn't like he shot up the McDonald's. He just shot and left."
The rapper's girlfriend, Jessica Jefferson, told L.A.'s local CBS affiliate that she saw Paybacc earlier that day.
"I just knew it. I drove by and saw his truck... I had just seen him. He left my house to come here," she said.
"For them to be that bold to run up to someone in a McDonald's in daylight, in front of people, kids you know, and to just take some kind of vengeance on somebody, it's, it's inhumane," Jefferson added. "Everybody loves him, and he's a good rapper. He's a good rapper, and he has so many followers and people who stand behind him. He really is a good, solid person."
Paybacc was best known for his song "Gangsta Luv" and had a strong following on YouTube. Jefferson told reporters that the rapper is survived by three children.
