Would egg-throwing be considered a talent on "Britain's Got Talent"? Natalie Holt proved she had some during the finale of the television show on Saturday night. The 30-year-old, a part of the backing act, suddenly came to the front of the stage in the middle of an opera performance by Richard and Adam Johnson and managed to aim a few eggs at the jury panel; Simon Cowell was the recipient of some of her targets.
Holt was quickly taken off stage without interruption, as the Johnson brothers powered through with their performance without a hitch from their side (incidentally, they came in at third place; Attraction won the show and John Carroll was the first runner up).
Cowell's reaction was to remove his jacket that had got the brunt of the eggs, and be almost as professional as the performers. Aside from a couple of jokes about what had happened, one of them being that he thought Holt was throwing sandwiches at him (the Johnson brothers work in a café), he moved on to his critique. Fellow judge Amanda Holden was less kind, calling the egg-pelter a "stupid cow".
According to E! News, a representative of "Britain's Got Talent" confirmed that Holt was a part of the backing group for the performance of the Johnson brothers, and the police were called in as a result of her "misguided" actions. No further action against her is to be taken at this stage.
Holt herself issued a statement as well, as reported by E! News. "I want to apologize to Richard and Adam for overshadowing their performance. I've never done anything like this before and in hindsight I have realized it was a silly thing to do," she said.
Some more information on Holt came out later in media reports. She is said to be a part of a string quartet called Raven, who had appeared on "Britain's Got Talent" in 2012. The other band members tweeted from their handle @ravenquartet, "We were as surprised as all of you". "Just to clarify.... The other 3 of us were working elsewhere today and found out when you did," said a later tweet.
There is no word yet on why Holt did what she did (and looked so happy doing it). Reactions on Twitter have ranged from sympathy for the Johnson brothers, to sarcastic ones about how the #eggwoman livened up the show.
