Cannibalism Likely Cause Of Death Of Murdered Woman

A man killed a woman recently in Wales in what is suspected to be an act of cannibalism.

Gwent Police officers were dispatched for a call at a hotel, currently being used to house homeless people, in the village of Argoed (in south Wales) on Thursday after receiving reports that a 22-year-old woman was murdered.

The suspected 34-year-old attacker, named by locals as Matthew Williams, was allegedly caught by hotel staff and witnesses eating the victim's eyeball, reports Mail Online. The concerned witnesses called authorities at the scene.

Cerys Yemm, 22, met her attacker a few hours prior to the incident at a nearby pub. The pair had been drinking and Williams was allegedly "high on coke," reports Mail Online.

"I just keep thinking of how frightening and painful it would have been for her," Shelly Davies, a friend of Yemm's, told Mail Online. "I feel sick to my stomach, it's horrific to think that one person can inflict some much brutality onto another. I had bad dreams all night and I feel exhausted."

When police arrived at the scene Williams was in his hotel room with a dead Yemm with severe injuries to the face, Mail Online reports. Police tasered Williams who became unresponsive and despite medical help died while under arrest.

Police watchdogs are investigating the police's decision to use the deathly taser on the suspect.

Authorities are also under investigation because the murder occurred less than 30 days since Williams was released from jail after attacking his ex-girlfriend. He was not under parole or bail at the time of the attack.
