Washington School Shooting: Andrew Fryberg, Cousin of Shooter, Dies In Hospital

Another victim who was shot during a Washington state high school shooting last month has died, the Associated Press reported.

Andrew Fryberg, 15, succumbed to his injuries Friday evening after spending two weeks in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, a hospital spokeswoman told the news agency.

He and three other teenagers - Zoe Galasso, Gia Soriano and Shaylee Chuckulnaskit - lost their lives after a freshman open fired in the cafeteria at Marysville-Pilchuck High School on Oct. 24.

"We express our thanks for the amazing support from the community, as well as from everyone around the world that have been praying for us through this tragic event," Fryberg's family said according to the AP.

Galasso, 14, was killed when Jaylen Fryberg, a football player, shot him after inviting him and the other victims via text message to lunch in the cafeteria. Soriano, 14, died two days later at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett. Chuckulnaskit, also 14, died Oct. 31 at the same hospital.

The shooter, described as a popular student who was apparently upset over a girl, also died after he turned the gun on himself. He and Andrew Fryberg were cousins.

Another student who was injured, 14-year-old Nate Hatch, was released from the hospital Thursday. Hatch was also Jaylen Fryberg's cousin, the AP reported.

Jaylen was part of the noted Tulalip Tribes family from the Tulalip Indian Reservation located north of Seattle.

The tribe "will be forever changed as a result of the senseless and tragic incident that took place on the morning of Oct. 24 and know that healing will not happen over night," the Tulalip Tribes said Friday, the AP reported. "We remain committed to taking this journey together, step by step, holding up the families most impacted and helping our communities heal."
