'InuYasha: The Final Act' To Debut on Toonami Next Week

Last night on Cartoon Newtork's Toonami, Tom said that "all good things come to an end ... but we say 'To Hell with that!" Took the words right out of our mouths.

"InuYasha," one of Rumiko Takahashi's most popular creations, has been announced to begin airing on Toonami as of Saturday, Nov. 15 with its sequel anime, "The Final Act."

"InuYasha" first aired in Japan on Oct. 16, 2000 before making its way to the U.S. on Aug. 31, 2002, running 167 episodes through Oct. 27, 2006. Reruns were aired until March 1, 2014 when Adult Swim lost the broadcast rights. "The Final Act" debuted in Japan on Oct. 3, 2009. It was released in English on Viz Media's Neon Alley online streaming network on Oct. 2, 2014, but has not aired on broadcast TV in the U.S. ... until now, anyway.

The series revolves around a young half-demon by the name of InuYasha, born of a demon father and human mother, in his pursuit of the Sacred Shikon Jewel, and the evil half-demon Naraku who covets it. During his pursuit, InuYasha finds a small group of friends he can trust to support him in his quest.

The original anime covers roughly the first 36 volumes of the manga in 167 episodes, and "The Final Act" covers the last 20 in its 26 episodes. The pacing, however, is different, so some things from the manga were omitted or not given the same treatment or attention as in the original.

The majority of the original cast will return for the sequel's English dub, but unfortunately, there are some favorite voice actors who either chose not to return for the sequel or were laid off, including Moneca Stori, David Kaye and Pam Hyatt. These actors voiced three very popular characters: the young reincarnated priestess, Kagome; InuYasha's full-demon half-brother, Sesshomaru; and the elderly priestess, Kaede, respectively.

"InuYasha: The Final Act" airs next Saturday, Nov. 15 at 2 a.m., taking the place of "Hellsing Ultimate" together with reruns of "Bleach," at least until the final two episodes of "Hellsing Ultimate" air in December, at which time the lineup will change again.
