Despite Kobe Bryant's 27.6 points per game, Los Angeles remains winless. His 39 points in Tuesday's 112-106 loss to the Phoenix Suns weren't enough to catapult the Lakers to their first win, but he sounded optimistic the talent-depleted team can turn things around one game at a time.
"Just get a damn win," Bryant said after the loss, via ESPN. "You can't listen to what everybody says. You can't listen to people. You've got to be as stubborn as a mule. You've got to keep chipping away. Got to keep competing and going after it, and this thing will turn around. Just as easily as we lost five in a row, we can turn around and win give in a row."
While the Lakers at 0-5 to start the season, first-year Lakers coach Byron Scott said there was still a "good vibe" in the locker room.
"It's good to have a few days to home in on a few things, and work on stuff that needs to be done," he said. "There's a good vibe. Our guys understand that it's the start of the season and not the end."
Scott also said one key to improving is getting better on defense.
"Our team defense has to be better," he said. "Our communication has to be better. Our guys are getting it, it's just going to take a little time."
Charlotte, meanwhile, is 3-3 after winning two straight games. Their latest win came on Friday in a 122-119 win against the Atlanta Hawks, thanks to a buzzer-beater from guard Lance Stephenson in double overtime.
