I hate being wrong more than I like being right. Last week, I was wrong. I told you to avoid Pittsburgh Steelers rookie receiver Martavis Bryant in fantasy. Of course, he goes out and has a top 10 fantasy day. Such is life.
Here are three free agent pickups to make right now.
1 Martavis Bryant
Total shocker, right? Bryant is still available in roughly 40 percent of ESPN leagues. Since making his NFL debut in Week 7, Bryant has caught a whopping six touchdowns. At 6 feet 4 inches, it's not exactly surprising he gets looks in the red zone. My problem was that he was only playing 28 snaps per game. But Bryant's four catches for 143 yards and an 80-yard touchdown Sunday against the Jets bettered the argument that he doesn't need to see the field a whole lot to be effective. My apologies, Bryant owners. I was wrong and I'm owning up to it.
2. John Brown
It's increasingly obvious that this rookie receiver has usurped Michael Floyd as the No. 2 WR in Arizona. Brown has 29 targets to Floyd's 12 over their last four games. Carson Palmer's injury clearly hurts the passing game in Arizona, especially throwing deep which is Floyd's specialty. But Brown has caught three of his five touchdowns this season with Drew Stanton under center. Brown will still be favored over Floyd even with the change at quarterback. The Pittsburgh State product is owned in less than 8 percent of ESPN leagues.
3. Terrance West
You know what four words fantasy owners hate more than anything? Running back by committee. Timeshares are fantasy value killers because you never know if your guy is going to get a big enough workload to make an impact. Despite the three-headed rushing attack in Cleveland, West is still a guy who is worth a roster spot. He has five double-digit fantasy games this season and has led the Browns in carries in two straight weeks. Running back is one of the most thin positions in fantasy. Having a few options there never hurts.
