A preacher from Florida broke the Guinness World Record for the longest speech over the weekend.
Pastor Zach Zehnder started speaking at 7 a.m. Friday at The Cross Mount Dora starting by presenting the Bible from Genesis to Revelation to his supporters, reports Click Orlando. He covered 50 different sermons.
He surpassed the time in the previous Guinness World Records entry for longest speech - 48 hours and 31 minutes - and kept going Sunday morning.
According to Guinness rules Zehnder could only take one five-minute break an hour. He also could not have a copy of the Bible with him, reported Click Orlando.
The pastor spoke for 50 hours when he finally finished his speech, reported Click Orlando.
"He's been awake for over two days speaking non-stop," Dave Douglas, executive director of Hand in Hand, a local charity, said to Bay News 9.
The world record attempt was also a fundraiser for the group Hand in Hand's Powerhouse Recovery Center, which helps people pay for rehabilitation who wouldn't normally be able to, reports Bay News 9. Sources say $90,000 was raised.
Organizers are submitting the evidence of the pastor's efforts to break the world record this week. Guinness World Records will officially determine if the record was broken and notify Zehnder in six to eight weeks.
