"The Big Bang Theory" characters enjoy their LEGO fun time. Fans can soon have a fun time with Leonard, Sheldon, Howard and Raj as Lego figurines.
The Denmark toy company announced "The Big Bang Theory" set as one of two projects chosen in the first 2014 LEGO Ideas Review. LEGO Ideas member Alatariel and collaborator GlenBricker proposed the idea and received the necessary 10,000 supporters to earn an official review by the "LEGO Review Board."
The set has all the characters from the CBS sitcom including the four main guys and their girlfriends Penny, Bernadette and Amy (one of the prototypes gives Raj his dog, Cinnamon). It also represents Leonard and Sheldon's living room with Sheldon's white board, their Green Lantern lantern, the Rubik's cube tissue box, a DNA model and a mini LEGO Death Star.
"The Big Bang Theory" executive producer Bill Prady helped Alatariel and GlenBricker reach 10,000 supporters by tweeting out the project proposal to his 182,000 followers. The two LEGO developers also let fans vote which T-shirt the Sheldon figurine should wear: the Flash, Green Lantern, a test pattern or an encircled 73 for Sheldon's favorite number.
Alatariel and GlenBricker have other projects in development based on "The Magic School Bus" TV show, the Discworld novels by Terry Pratchett, the "Mega Man" video game series. LEGO continues to work out details on the final product design, pricing and availability.
All developers must create a model, submit photos of it and give a description of the idea. They then must gather 10,000 supporters, who can vote for their favorites at the LEGO Ideas website. Previous ideas rewarded an official set include the "Back to the Future" DeLorean and the "Ghostbusters" car.
LEGO also received two proposals for a "Doctor Who" set. The review board continues to evaluate each set and will announce later whether one will be produced. The next round of ideas include a "Batman" assault on Wayne Manor, the X-Mansion from "X-Men" and the "Ghostbusters" headquarters building.
