Free agent offensive lineman Richie Incognito, formerly of the Miami Dolphins, reportedly worked out for the Denver Broncos on Monday. Denver is considering signing the guard to solidify the offensive front, according to both FOX Sports and ESPN.
After serving his four-game suspension last season for bullying ex-teammate Jonathan Martin, Incognito reached an agreement with Miami that suspended him for the remainder of the season with pay. Now a free agent this season, Denver reportedly is thinking about signing him.
"FOX Sports has learned the AFC Champion Broncos have brought in Richie Incognito for a workout and are contemplating signing him," Jay Glazer wrote Monday. "Incognito visited Broncos camp Monday for a workout. The team is doing its due diligence on potentially bringing him aboard. Incognito has been working out in Arizona, hoping to catch on with a team. The Broncos coaches are already very familiar with Incognito from coaching him in the Pro Bowl a couple years ago."
ESPN's Chris Mortensen confirmed the report on Tuesday, adding the Broncos had considered signing him last season after his suspension. The team ultimately couldn't bring him in, however, because of Incognito's agreement with Miami to remain suspended without pay.
Denver wants to strengthen its offensive line after making changes to it during Sunday's win against Oakland.
Per ESPN:
"Incognito was brought in for his workout on the heels of the Broncos' 41-17 win over the Oakland Raiders on Sunday -- a game in which the team made three changes to the offensive front. Louis Vasquez, an All-Pro guard last season, moved from right guard to right tackle, Manny Ramirez moved from center to right guard and Will Montgomery started his first game for the Broncos at center. Paul Cornick, who had started three games at right tackle, injured his right shoulder in practice this past week, but the Broncos were poised to make the changes before Cornick was injured."
Incognito has also received interest from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills.
