Sony's SmartWatch 3 is Available at Google's Online Store for $250

Sony fans no longer have to wait for the third version of the tech giant's smartwatch, which is now available at the Google Play Store.

The fitness-centered SmartWatch 3 comes with a GPS for keeping track of distance traveled, which is the first time such a feature has been added to a device running on the Android Wear platform, according to The Verge.

SmartWatch 3 is waterproof, and users can wear it while going for a swim or taking a shower.

Google's online store posted a message that read "coming soon" about the release of the device.

Other capabilities of the SmartWatch 3 include providing notifications of incoming calls and messages when paired with a smartphone, as well as keeping a record of how many steps you've taken, or how much sleep you got the night before, CNET reported.

With the LifeLog app, users will be able to keep track of different things they've done throughout the day, such as the songs they listened to and the movies they watched. The device also comes with Sony's Walkman apps designed to help users better manage their music.

The SmartWatch 3 is on sale now for $250 at Google Play in the U.S., though it is not available yet at Google Play in the U.K. or Australia, CNET reported. Sony promises the wristband will be shipped to customers only one to two business days after the order is placed. Sony has already started selling the device through Verizon Wireless, which comes with a shipping date of Nov. 20.

Sony's new smartwatch has several competitors to deal with in the wearable market, including the new Microsoft Band, the Apple Watch and other devices under Android Wear.
