Mercedes-Benz is recalling roughly 10,500 C-Class 2015 vehicles in the United States because some cars are allegedly loosing steering wheel control at low speeds, Daily Finance reported on Tuesday.
The company also said that there were two reported incidents of loss of steering happening outside of the United States. No injuries have been reported so far.
Production workers made an error when installing the steering wheel mechanism on some C300 and C400 models with four-wheel drive.
Some of the sliding shafts in the steering columns of the cars are at risk for becoming separated from the mechanism socket if there is low feedback from the road, sudden steering thrust or vibrations. The vehicle may lose steering control if the system fails, which could led to car accidents and injuries, according to the Consumerist.
Owners are able to bring their cars into dealerships to get the models replaced for free.
