Garth Brooks Shares 'Beautiful Moment' With Cancer Patient During Concert (SEE IT)

Garth Brooks usually touches fans with his music during his concerts, but over the weekend, one fan touched the superstar so intensely that he said it was the hand of God sending him a message.

The powerful moment began while Brooks was singing his smash hit "The Dance" Friday night (Nov. 7) during his Minneapolis concert. While walking across the stage, a sign caught his eye. Teresa Shaw, a mom battling stage 3 breast cancer since June, stood at the edge of the stage and held up a sign that read, "Chemo this morning. Garth tonight. Enjoying 'The Dance.'"

Brooks, who lost his mother and sister to cancer, had an immediate reaction to the sign, according to People. What he did next created what Brooks later called a "beautiful moment."

After sitting on the edge of the stage so he could hold Shaw's hand and hug her, Brooks handed the courageous fan his guitar. He stood up, holding the sign in his hands, and told Shaw, "You have all of my strength. You have everybody's strength in here. And you go kick cancer's ass!"

After the show, Shaw told station KARE-11, "If I'm ever down, I can go to it and think about that night." She had traveled to Brooks' concert from Iowa with her daughter Elizabeth.

Also after the show, Brooks told reporters, "It's a reminder to all of us. We can think, 'Oh my God, two shows on Friday, two shows on Saturday ...' Well she goes through chemo in the morning and comes to the show at night-nothing's hard after that. That puts it all in perspective."

The story continued on Tuesday (Nov. 11) while Brooks was on "Entertainment Tonight" doing an interview with Nancy O'Dell. During the interview, the singer was stunned when Shaw walked out.

"It was a beautiful moment just between me and you," Brooks told his longtime fan as O'Dell looked on. He also revealed that her handmade sign will stay in his personal locker throughout his world tour "because of the strength it will bring."

"Man Against Machine," Brooks' first album since 2001, was released yesterday (Nov. 11).
