A Pennsylvania man was arrested on Veterans Day after burning piles of American flags among other memorabilia stolen from the graves of veterans.

Anthony Davis Carter, 29, denied vandalizing the grave sites but police say the DNA on the handles of the burnt flag poles match the DNA from the suspect's genetic profile, Bucks County Courier Times reported.

"I don't feel bad," Carter said to Bucks County Courier Times, who asked him if he was sorry about the vandalism.

The crime occurred on Sept. 5, where Carter was caught on surveillance cameras burning the American flags, but the DNA test results didn't come back until Veterans Day when he was arrested.

"I'm glad this happened on Veterans Day," Bensalem Director of Public Safety Fred Harran said to Bucks County Courier Times.

Although Carter was arrested, police are still investigating his motive.

"Why this knucklehead would decide to damage grave stones and marks and burn American flags, I have no idea," said Fred Harran, Bensalem Public Safety Director.

Carson was charged with institutional vandalism, arson, possessing an instrument of crime, criminal mischief and reckless burning or exploding.
