Mascots are a fun, if sometimes (see: often) annoying, part of sports. They jump around, they pump up the crowd - sometimes they even play pranks.

Last night, during the Nashville Predators game against the visiting Edmonton Oilers, Nashville's mascot, Gnash, decided to prank a couple of unsuspecting (just kidding one of them was in on it) Oilers fans, with the ol' pie-in-the-face routine.

Check out the video:

Gnash, who was actually seeing his first action of the season after suffering a broken leg during offseason training had quite the night - he rode around the ice on a four-wheeler, ran around and pumped up the crowd - culminating in the above prank.

It was all in good fun though, as the girl was apparently in on the gag, according to Gnash's spokeswoman, Alexis Witman, per Josh Cooper of Yahoo! Sports.

"Both fans are real Edmonton fans," Witman said. "Gnash had met the girl before and she was part of a plot to set up her brother to get pied in the face. She knew it was coming."

Gnash gave the kids a couple of tickets to a game at a later date to thank them.

"It was all in fun and Gnash sent the victims tickets to a future game with the promise of 'no pies' for being such sports."
