You might want to stock up on Kleenex because word on the internet is that someone's dying during the season four finale of "Homeland." TV Line has the scoop and reported that a source in South Africa - where "Homeland" is currently filming - said "the show recently shot an elaborate funeral sequence at a chapel in Cape Town presumably to air in the season finale. I have my theories about the identity of the dearly departed, but I'm more interested in who you think it is."
Just a quick search on social media has some fans wondering if Saul, Quinn, Haqqani or Lockhart will be saying their final goodbyes this season.
In related news, Showtime announced on Tuesday that it was renewing "Homeland" for a fifth season with 12 episodes. According to the network, the show rakes in six million viewers a week for its current season. Showtime also announced that it was bringing back "The Affair" for a second season.
"In its fourth season, 'Homeland' had brilliantly reinvented itself. It continues to capture the attention of a devoted fan base, and has provided an enviable platform for the successful launch of 'The Affair,'" said David Nevins, President, Showtime Networks in a press release. "With thought-provoking, timely and addictive storylines, both series have been embraced, dissected and much debated week after week. We're excited to see more from these compelling shows in 2015."
Season 4 of "Homeland," which is set in Islamabad and Kabul takes place about six months after the events in the third season with Claire Danes' character Carrie Mathinson assigned to a CIA post in Kabul.
"As last season drew to a close Carrie, pregnant with the late Brody's (Damien Lewis) baby, got promoted to a new post overseas, while Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin) contemplated his future outside of the CIA. Season four will find Carrie assigned to one of the most volatile and dangerous CIA stations in the Middle East where she is back on the front lines in the war on terror," a description reads.
