'Fast and Furious 7': Director Justin Lin Signs On To Help End Franchise?

Director Justin Lin has allegedly returned to the "Fast & Furious" films to help end the franchise.

Deadline reports Universal Pictures has tapped Lin to direct multiple productions for the studio if he helps wrap up the franchise.

"I am not getting anything from the studio on this, but here's what I hear: I expect Lin and Universal to begin talking again about him directing a multi-part production that will lead to multiple movies shot together and will wave the checkered flag on the Fast & Furious franchise," according to Deadline.

"This would have to happen after he directs the first two episodes of the second season of HBO's True Detective, but to me it just makes too much sense not to happen."

It's unclear where the future of the "Fast & Furious" franchise stands, but the cast recently helped debut the "FURIOUS 7" trailer. Actor Vin Diesel opened up about the loss of Paul Walker during a live stream event.

"When we decided to go back to work when Universal was so supportive about us continuing the film, it was unanimous, it was across the board that the most important thing would be to honor my brother Paul and his legacy," Diesel told the crowd.

"When we used to come out of the premiere...when Paul and I would come out of the premiere of every movie that was released, he would always say, 'We can make a better one.' It's not in the can yet. He would say the best one's still in the can."

"Furious 7" staring Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, and Jason Statham will be released to theaters on April 3, 2015.
