Australia's Bondi Beach was a sea of behinds on Thursday, when more than 400 protestors stuck their heads under the sand to poke fun at the government's lack of attention to climate change issues in the upcoming G20 summit, Yahoo News reported.
Following the United State's agreement with China on Wednesday to cap their carbon footprint, Prime Minister Tony Abbott's supposed reluctance to talk about climate change is that much more surprising to the protestors.
"Obama's on board, Xi Jinping's on board, everyone's on board except one man," activist Pat Norman, 28, bellowed into a megaphone on the Sydney beach.
Everyone from parents with small children, business men in suits and school kids dug holes into the sand and proceeded to shove their heads inside. Their reasoning is that the ostrich allegedly buries its head in the same to try to avoid predators.
"Wiggle ya' bums if you feel like it," Norman shouted over the megaphone.
In 2009, Abbott said goal was good for human kind and that climate change was a bunch of bull, according to The Guardian. Australia is also the only country to pull back on climate change efforts after it nixed taxes on greenhouse gas emissions in July.
Justin Field, 36, a former army intelligence officer is running on the Green Party line for a seat on the state parliament, said Australia has to wise up.
"To be so far behind the rest of the developed world embarrasses progressive Australia," he said.
