Staples announced Thursday that consumers will now be able to use the Apple Pay payments service to buy items at its "over 1,200" retail stores in the U.S.
Apple Pay currently works with Apple's iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Watch, but you will have to wait until next year to use it if you have an iPhone 5, iPhone 5c or iPhone 5s, according to 9 to 5 Mac.
While the Framingham, Mass.-based retailer is joining in on the Apple Pay craze, not all retail stores are accepting the payment method, particularly those opting for the Merchant Customer Exchange (MCX)'s CurrentC payment system like Best Buy and CVS. Consumers still have the option of using the service at stores that have NFC-compatible checkout terminals.
Thursday's announcement follows almost a month after Apple Pay became available to the public, Mac Rumors reported. Several stores were announced during the service's introduction to be providing in-store support for the payment method "later this year," including Staples, Sephora, Anthropologie Free People, Urban Outfitters, and Walt Disney World.
Staples is the 34th retailer to begin accepting Apple Pay, with other partners including Office Depot, Macy's Disney, Petco, Foot Locker, Toys R Us, and Walgreens.
