Chicago is 6-2, despite having star Derrick Rose active for only 10 games. Rose drew criticism earlier in the week when he said his decision to sit out for some games had to do with his desire to remain healthy long-term.
"I'm good, man," Rose said, via ESPN, when asked how satisfied he is with his game. "I felt like I've been managing myself pretty good. I know a lot of people get mad when they see me sit out or whatever, but I think a lot of people don't understand that ... when I sit out it's not because of this year.
"I'm thinking about long term. I'm thinking about after I'm done with basketball. Having graduations to go to, having meetings to go to, I don't want to be in my meetings all sore or be at my son's graduation all sore just because of something I did in the past. [I'm] just learning to be smart."
Rose hasn't played in every game this season, but he's been effective for the most part when he's been on the court. He's averaging 17.5 points and 5.8 assists per game, which is impressive given the fact he's missed most of the last two seasons.
He played on Monday against Detroit, recording 24 points and seven assists.
"Derrick's a (heck) of a player," teammate Joakim Noah said. "To have your best player on the court, floor general, means a lot. When he's out on the court, he demands so much attention it opens up a lot of easy opportunities for everyone else."
Toronto, meanwhile, has surprised many with their 7-1 start to the season. They head into Thursday's game looking for their fifth straight win.
