Matt Taylor, one of the scientists from the team that landed the probe on the comet earlier this week, apologized for wearing a shirt emblazoned with scantily clad women during an interview.
"I made a big mistake, and I offended many people," Taylor said while trembling, "and I'm very sorry about this."
As Taylor was struggling to speak he received a supportive pat on the back from Andrea Accomazzo, the Rosetta flight operations director, who was seated next to him, before transitioning to talking more about the probe mission.
Although many people appreciated Taylor's apology some are questioning what his shirt says about the acceptance of woman scientists.
"I don't care what scientists wear. But a shirt featuring women in lingerie isn't appropriate for a broadcast if you care about women in STEM," Astrophysicist Katie Mack said.
