Xbox One will launch this November for $499 in the United States, according to an announcement by Microsoft Studios corporate vice president Phil Spencer at E3 on Monday. It will cost 429 pounds in the U.K. and 499 Euros for the rest of Europe.
The Xbox One is expected to revolutionize, not just gaming, but entertainment as a whole. The One includes a new controller, Snap Mode, and the use of the cloud to enhance gaming experience. Some of the One’s features were displayed in May when Microsoft officially announced the new console.
"Today, we look forward," Don Mattrick, Microsoft president of interactive business, said at the time. "It's time for technology to step behind the curtain and for you and entertainment to take center stage."
The Xbox One specs include an 8-core AMD, 500GB hard drive. Jaguar CPU, USB 3.0 ports and 8GB DDR3 RAM, according to TechRadar. The One also comes with Blu-ray.
E3 featured a whole host of Xbox One features and capabilities that were displayed as developers presented their games.
For example, during the “Killer Instinct “presentation, we got to see the use of the “Twitch” app. On the Xbox One, Twitch allows you to stream your game to a live audience as you wipe the floor with your opponent.
During the “Forza Motorsports 5” presentation we saw the use of the cloud. According to Creative Director at Turn 10 Studios Dan Greenwalt, the game records how you drive—how aggressive you are, the way you turn, your speeds in certain situations—and puts it on the cloud. Now when your friends are racing your “Drivatar”—that can drive and earn you points while you are away from your Xbox—they will not be racing against A.I. but against a realistic version of you and your tendencies in the game.
The specific date for the Xbox One’s release has not been announced as of yet.
