Brooke Hogan - the reality star-turned-singer, and daughter of legendary wrestler Hulk Hogan - has found a new song to sing. This song is not the pop music she's rocked out on before. This song often tells a heart-wrenching, true-to-life story set to the backdrop of a twangy guitar. Maybe a banjo. Maybe a fiddle. You guessed it: she's gone country.
"I've actually been here in Nashville for three years," Hogan told FOX 411 Country. "I kind of didn't tell anybody because I wanted to cultivate my songwriting, make some friends, I feel like I've finally found my home. I'm from Clearwater, Fla., and I love Nashville so much I don't even really miss the beach."
One reason she doesn't miss the beach that much is because she is incorporating the beach into her style of country music.
"I would say [my style is] a beachy-country-rock," she explains. "I'm from the beach and I love country, so it's a mix of both.
"I did country way back when I was like 13-14 years old and then I kind of fell into the pop genre. You know, when you're 17 and a record label says, 'Hey do pop,' you listen. And then I just was kind of sick of the songwriting falling away and that world wasn't registering my heart right so I said I'm going to try my hand in Nashville and I have fallen in love with this place."
Hogan certainly has the two ingredients in her real life that all good country songwriter-singers need. That's heartache and happiness.
Back in November she called off her engagement to Dallas Cowboy Phil Costa. The couple got engaged in June, but Hogan parted with the offensive lineman five months later.
There's your heartache.
Then in May, her new boyfriend surprised her a couple of days before birthday with an eye-popping gift. "I have the best bf ever. Not only does he know my style but he knows I LOVE turquoise he's damn good!!! (sic)" she captioned an Instagram photo of a stunning gold Michael Kors watch featuring an unusual turquoise face that matched her bracelet."
There's your happiness.
Hogan says she's wrap up her new country album and it will be released in 2015.
