Wal-Mart employees are planning to protest over their wages again this Black Friday at 1,600 store locations.
"Over the last year, Walmart workers have pressured Walmart to change its pregnancy policy, provide access to more hours and most recently to pledge to phase out its minimum wage jobs," the UFCW said on its website.
The Wal-Mart employees are demanding a $15 minimum wage, reported International Business Times.
Wal-Mart pays their full-time employees an average of $12.92 per hour, Reuters reported. The federal minimum wage is $7.25.
"The reality is that few Walmart associates participate in these labor-organized protests," Wal-Mart spokeswoman Brooke Buchanan said to Reuters, adding that the company does not retaliate against protesting employees.
Last month, Wal-Mart Chief Executive Douglas McMillon said the company is working to "phase-out" minimum wage jobs "over time," Reuters reported.
The announcement of the Black Friday protests by employees came just one day after 23 Los Angeles Wal-Mart employees were arrested Thursday while they were protesting for higher wages and the way the company retaliated against employees who requested better working conditions, Reuters reported.
