War Machine Faces Trial On 34 Felonies

Mixed Martial Arts fighter War Machine stood trial on Friday in Nevada to face 34 felony charges after allegedly attacking his ex-girlfriend Christy Mack in August, NBC News reported.

War Machine - whose name was Jonathan Koppenhaver before he legally changed it - is facing charges including attempted murder, kidnapping and sexual assault, and could spend the rest of his life in prison if convicted.

Mack testified that during the attack, she ran when she thought War Machine was grabbing a knife to kill her. She went door-to-door in her neighborhood while bleeding looking for help on Aug. 8.

She said she regained consciousness at one point while she was on the floor of the shower with the water running, and was kicked in the stomach when she tried to stand.

"I couldn't breathe," she said. "I don't remember getting out of the shower. I just remember being on the floor. Naked on the floor. Cold."

After her testimony, the judged tacked on two additional felony charges on top of the 32 already logged against War Machine. His other charges include coercion, attempted sexual assault and burglary.

War Machine did not testify, but his lawyer, Brandon Sua, said he plans to plead not guilty to his charges next week, according to Cosmopolitan.
