Tradition says wedding guests should not wear white to a wedding. Solange Knowles bucked tradition and dressed her entire wedding party in the fair color.
The younger Knowles sister married her fiancé, video director Alan Ferguson, in a New Orleans ceremony on Sunday, Nov. 16. The intimate wedding capped a weekend of festivities with close friends and family including sister Beyoncé, brother-in-law Jay-Z and mom Tina.
"Everyone I worked with on the wedding are friends who I love," Solange told Vogue. "Everything was a labor of love."
The 28-year-old bride wore a dress by Humberto Leon for Kenzo with Jill for Lady Grey bracelets and Stuart Weitzman shoes. The 51-year-old groom dressed in a suit by Lanvin. Knowles also donned an elegant ivory-colored jumpsuit for her ride to the wedding.
The couple nixed a stretch limo to drive them to the Holy Trinity Church in the Bywater district. They opted to ride "white-painted bicycles, decorated with cream roses" to their wedding, according to Vogue.
Knowles walked down the aisle to an instrumental version of Donny Hathaway's "I Love the Lord, He Heard Me Cry." The day also included performances by friends Kelela, Questlove and Kindness as well as a dance-off between Knowles and her 10-year-old son Daniel Julez to "No Flex Zone."
The newlyweds kicked off the weekend with a family movie night on Friday and the rehearsal dinner on Saturday, according to Us Weekly. Knowles has made her home in the Big Easy with her son since August of 2013.
She gave birth to Daniel in October 2004 while married to her ex-husband Daniel Smith. The two were married from 2004 to 2007. Ferguson proposed to Knowles on her 28th birthday this past June, according to MediaTakeOut.com.
