Ride-sharing service Uber announced Friday that it is working with streaming service Spotify to let people listen to their favorite songs on rides.
The collaboration will allow riders to hook up their Spotify accounts to their Uber profile to listen to their own playlists, as well as curated playlists, and avoid listening to music on the driver's radio, according to The Next Web.
The service will be available starting Nov. 21 in 10 cities: New York, Nashville, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Mexico City, Toronto, London, Singapore, Stockholm and Sydney.
Uber currently provides rides in more than 225 cities across the globe, and its collaboration with Spotify is expected to help the company in its goal of leading the cab-hailing market, CNBC.com reported.
Spotify has estimated that more than 50 million people actively use its streaming service, and that it has more than 12.5 million paying subscribers.
The partnership, which Uber described in its announcement as a "first-of-its-kind," could help Spotify in its quest to expand its offerings beyond mobile and desktop and into other fields, which include integration with connected vehicles, PC Magazine reported.
Uber CEO Travis Kalanick is expected to reveal more details about the partnership in a press call Monday afternoon that will include a "special partner guest," which is expected to be Spotify CEO Daniel Ek.
