Pittsburgh (6-4) had their three-game winning streak snapped last Sunday with a surprising 20-13 loss to the New York Jets. The Steelers' defense gave up 17 points after one quarter, and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger struggled for most of the game against the Jets' defense.
"It's the NFL, if you don't show up ready to play your type of game, you're going to lose," said Steelers receiver Lance Moore, via ESPN. "Our last game was a perfect example of that. We're hot. We came in high and mighty and a team came in and played better than us."
Pittsburgh's defense failed to contain the struggling Jets, and the team will look to avoid the same narrative when they visit the sub-500 Titans.
"The ability is there, it's just about going out and doing it," defensive end Cam Heyward told the team website. "We have to have our focus and mindset on the Titans this week. We can't forget what happened, but we have to move past it. We have to move in the right direction and clean up the stuff that put us in trouble this past week."
Tennessee is 2-7 after losing three straight games. The quarterback change from Jake Locker to rookie Zach Mettenberger hasn't helped matters, with Mettenberger compiling 478 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions in Tennessee's last two games.
The Titans' last game was on Nov. 9, when they were handed a 21-7 loss at Baltimore.
"Early in the first half we did a lot of good things to kind of counteract their guys," Mettenberger said. "We just got to continue to ... play like that for 60 minutes."
