Betty White Show ‘Hot In Cleveland’ Cancelled By TV Land

TV Land ventured into scripting original series in 2010 with four of the greatest women in television history. Valerie Bertinelli, Wendy Malick, Jane Leeves and Betty White lead the way in their new series "Hot in Cleveland," but after six seasons the former home of "Classic TV" has pulled the plug on the sitcom.

"After five incredible seasons of 'Hot in Cleveland,' the sixth season, currently in production, will be its last. It's been an honor to work with Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick and the incomparable Betty White as well as our executive producers Suzanne Martin, Todd Milliner, Sean Hayes and the rest of our exceptional writers, production team and crew," TV Land president Larry W. Jones said in a statement.

"The passion and talent they brought to the set each and every week over the past five years has put TV land on the map as a network dedicated to quality original programming. We will continue to celebrate the show and are looking forward to a fantastic series finale."

TV Land renewed the series in May for a 24-episode sixth and now final season. The show celebrated 100 episodes last season and White reunited with all the women of "The Mary Tyler Moore" - Mary Tyler Moore, Cloris Leachman, Valerie Harper and Georgia Engel.

"Hot in Cleveland" has welcomed many of TV's current stars such as Chris Colfer, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Jennifer Love Hewitt as well as veterans like Don Rickles, William Shatner, Carol Burnett and Carl Reiner. White's co-stars know the show attracts many of its great guest stars thanks to the power of the 92-year-old comedy legend.

"When you have Betty White as a draw, you're going to get anybody in the business," Bertinelli told Yahoo in August. "Everyone wants to come and meet Betty, and then we get to play with them, too."

White earned an Emmy nomination and won two SAG Awards for her role as Elka Ostrovsky. The show also thrust White back into the pop culture zeitgeist and led to a successful Facebook campaign for her to host "Saturday Night Live" in 2010, for which she won another Emmy.

The success of "Hot in Cleveland" produced the spin-off series "The Soul Man" starring Cedric the Entertainer. TV Land expanded its original series roster with shows "Retired at 35," "Happily Divorced," "The Exes," "Kirstie" and "Jennifer Falls." It will launch its latest series "Younger" starring Sutton Foster in January.
