Ferguson: Corrections Officer Accused Of Raping Pregnant Woman

A corrections officer in Ferguson, Mo., is facing charges for allegedly raping a pregnant woman who was stopped for an expired license plate.

The woman, "J.W.," was arrested on Oct. 9, 2013 for giving a false name at a traffic stop. Corrections officer Jaris Hayden allegedly told her, "You smell good," while she was being booked, according to MSN.

"J.W." has filed a suit against Hayden and there are criminal charges pending against Hayden, who was fired in November 2013, according to AP.

The woman, who was then a few months pregnant, alleges that she was having pain and discharge. Paramedics came to check on her, but told her it was Hayden's decision to release her into their care, according to MSN.

Hayden kept the woman in his custody. After the paramedics left, "J.W." alleges that Hayden told her, "You're the type of girl that can get me in trouble" before leading her to a boiler room, according to MSN.

"J.W." states in her complaint that Hayden forced her to perform oral sex and the raped her, according to MSN. The woman was let out of the police station through a side door.

"J.W." secured some of Hayden's public hair during the alleged rape, according to MSN. DNA confirms the pubic hair belongs to Hayden.

"The numerous acts of violence against the citizenry by law enforcement of the City of Ferguson constitute a pattern," the woman's attorney, Bevis Schock, said, according to AP.

The booking officer's arraignment is set for Dec. 3. He faces charges of "acceding to corruption by a public servant, permitting escape and two counts of sexual contact with a prisoner," according to AP.
