Skateboard legend Tony Hawk can now say he did a 10-80 on a real-life hoverboard.
Arx Pax's board, called Hendo, debuted last month as the "world's first hoverboard," and is able to float one inch above the ground by producing a magnetic field over an aluminum or copper surface, according to The Huffington Post.
Four hover engines also help to give this ability to the board, which can travel at 15 miles per hour.
Hawk recently met with the Silicon Valley startup at its warehouse in Los Gatos, California, and found the board to be impressive while performing the 10-80 and other tricks, CNET reported.
"This is real, folks," Hawk said in a video promoting the board. "This is the real hoverboard right here, so forget everything you know."
Dave Carnie, a writer who visited Arx Pax with Hawk, said watching Hendo in action in person is a different experience than watching it on video, according to The Huffington Post.
"The two scientists steadied the thing, and Tony mounted the hoverboard," Carnie said. "The scientists let go. And Tony Hawk was hovering."
Arx Pax has created a Kickstarter campaign for Hendo and the Whitebox hover developer kit to give inventors a run with the board, CNET reported. The campaign has already surpassed its goal of $250,000 with $450,536 raised so far, and potential backers have until Dec. 14 to show their support.
