Well, the time for me has finally come. The time I am referring to is for me to finally be embarrassed for video games in general. Today, I am ashamed to call myself a gamer.
The cause for this shame is the due to the new, first person mode in "Grand Theft Auto V" which was released today for the Xbox One and PS4. All the action scenes (shooting, driving, flying, etc.) that have be displayed so far in this new mode have looked fantastic...visceral and up-tempo as one would expect in a game of this nature. But, of course, this is "Grand Theft Auto" and there just has to be "other" types of lascivious behavior going on.
That brings me to the crux of this piece...the video below. It is the player character having sex with a hooker in the new first person mode. It is, in a word or two, cringe-inducing.

Now, I don't consider myself a prude in any way, but did anyone find that sexy or titillating? I sure as hell hope not. Because I found the whole four and half minutes about as sexy as duffle bag full of dead cats. And the ending...ugh. I know this is "GTA" and those kinds of shenanigans are expected on some level, but is it really necessary to knock the hooker out after she has serviced you? Just because you can do something nasty doesn't mean you should do something nasty, right?
I don't know. Maybe I'm getting old and cranky. Video games...bah, humbug! Thanks to ThoseVideoGameMoments for the heads up on the video.
