Ronnie McDowell: Still Touring 40 Years After Elvis Presley Tribute 'The King Is Gone'

Ronnie McDowell was launched into the full glare of the national spotlight with his tribute to Elvis Presley, "The King Is Gone," in 1977. For decades later, McDowell is still performing all across the country, and 2015 will be no different. He has shows booked into the fall of next year.

"The King Is Gone" has sold five million copies worldwide. McDowell followed up that smash song with other hits, including "I Love You, I Love You, I Love You," "Wandering Eyes," "Love Talks," and "In A New York Minute." His later hits included duets with Conway Twitty ("It's Only Make Believe") and Jerry Lee Lewis ("Never Too Old To Rock And Roll").

McDowell's vocals, who are routinely compared to Presley's over the years, earned his voice spots in the 1979 biopic "Elvis" and "Elvis and Me," a made-for-TV movie inspired by the Priscilla Presley autobiography of the same title.

To date, McDowell has released 24 studio albums, such as "Good Time Lovin' Man" and "I'm Still Missing You." His most recent album is "Lost In Dirty Dancing."

McDowell is also an avid painter, and has released several art prints of his work.
