We might as well forget about the tradition and meaning of Thanksgiving because we already know that millions of people are prepping themselves to stake out their favorite stores' early openings on Black Friday.
Screw the stuffing; we've moved on to stocking stuffers. That's the attitude of most, but wouldn't you prefer to sleep? Hasn't the tryptophan from all of that turkey kicked in yet?
First of all, Black Friday doesn't even seem to be all that enjoyable, and the name of the "holiday" already connotes a death sentence. I don't see the fun in being trampled or injured while I shop for presents for my loved ones.
Most people think that they'll never score the same type of deals that they are programmed to believe occur on Black Friday, but here is some information to prove that notion wrong.
The days for the best discounts vary depending on what you're looking for, but here are some alternative days to get your holiday shopping done...in a less frightening way:
Nov. 26 (2 days before Black Friday): Electronics, toys
Dec. 1 (Cyber Monday): Clothing - place your order from the convenience of your couch or bed
Dec. 8: Good runner-up day to buy toys
Dec. 15: Novelties: wine, candy, flowers
Dec. 19: Good last-minute day to buy toys
This data, and the above dates, were compiled from the experts of savings.com, who looked at 1.5 million deals at 25,000 retailers over the past five years both online and in stores, according to Sean Dowling of "Buzz 60."
For overall shopping advice, the best day to take a trip to the mall is the Monday before Thanksgiving, or Nov. 24, because inventory is high and you'll likely find all of the items you desire.
Happy holidays!
