All that smoke surrounding defenseman Tyler Myers potentially being shipped out of Buffalo may finally reveal a pretty seriously raging fire.
Myers is a hot commodity, and there are a pair of teams in desperate need of defensive help taking a long, hard look at acquiring the big defender, according to a recent report from Eklund of Hockeybuzz.
Many teams have big interest in Tyler Myers, and I am told the two biggest at this point are the Dallas Stars and the Philadelphia Flyers...
Both Dallas and Philadelphia have struggled in the defensive zone this season. Philadelphia has been forced to withstand a plethora of injuries, starting in the off-season with veteran stalwart Kimmo Timonen, and continuing on through the season with Andrew MacDonald, Luke Schenn and the recently returned Braydon Coburn all missing varying lengths of time.
Even when they've been healthy though, they've played poorly.
Dallas, after being touted as a preseason Cup favorite, are currently 6-9-4 and sitting in seventh place in the Central Division. Their defense is young and lacks any dependable, proven players.
Eklund said that something is imminent, and the Sabres and their fans will be mighty happy with the return, should a trade come to fruition.
It really does look like something is "about to give" in this situation and from what I am hearing the Sabres fans will be very happy with the return they get for Tyler...
No word yet on what, exactly, the Sabres can, or will, get in return for his services, but with Buffalo hot on the trail of the number one pick in next year's NHL entry draft, moving the 24-year-old Myers will not only improve the team for the future with picks and/or prospects, it will expedite their ability to tank.
