Jennifer Lawrence revealed a little bit of what’s to come for her character Mystique in “X-Men: Apocalypse.”
The actress spoke to IGN while promoting her film “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1.” Lawrence was asked what would happen to Mystique now that she was seen by the world taking down Magneto and sparing the President’s life in the process.
Check out what Lawrence had to say about her “X-Men” character’s future in the video below.
Lawrence and costar Michael Fassbender will allegedly taking over the next “X-Men” film. An insider source told The Hollywood Reporter Magneto and Mystique’s romantic relationship will be central to the film’s plot.
“X-Men: Apocalypse” writer Simon Kinberg also told Collider back in October that Lawrence’s character will definitely be important to the next film. Kinberg said the dynamic between Mystique, Professor X and Magneto has changed drastically since the events of “Days of Future Past.”
“Part of what’s really interesting about Mystique’s character is that she is, in some ways, the child of both Erik and Charles,” Kinberg told Collider. “She grew up with Charles and then she sort of became a woman with Erik, so her being the cross-pollination, if you will, of those two philosophies and those two men is something we can explore in the movie too.”
There are also rumors the production is looking to cast a young Jean Grey and Cyclops in the film.
“X-Men: Apocalypse” is slated to hit theaters on May 18, 2016.
