A new app going by the name Milk aims to help you save money whenever you go grocery shopping.
Consumers who don't have time to clip paper coupons will find this app very handy, according to TechCrunch. Milk is the latest app introduced by the creators of Honey, a coupon-code finder that helps online shoppers save at checkout.
George Ruan, co-founder of Honey, said recent months have seen an increase in apps designed to help consumers take advantage of good deals, such as SavingStar, Shopmium, Checkout 51, Shrink, ibotta and Groupon Snap.
"Each year, 315 million coupons worth well over $400 billion dollars are distributed," Ruan said. "But only a tiny fraction is redeemed - 0.8% - and usage is dropping."
All users have to do is select the "Update coupon" button before looking for items to buy, SlashGear reported. After purchasing groceries, you scan the reward card while checking out, and Milk will sync the card to see what items were bought and automatically apply coupons to them.
Digital coupons are put in different categories, including beverages, babies and bakery, to make it easier to find offers, TechCrunch reported. You can also make sure you remember what items to get by adding deals to a shopping list on the app.
Shoppers will be happy to know that they will be able to use Milk for free for the first three months. After that, it will cost $9.99 per year.
