Drug Tests for UFC 179 Come Back Clean

The Comissao Atletica Brasileira de MMA (CABMMA) announced Friday that all fighters who participated in UFC 179 passed their drug tests.

The event took place on Oct. 25 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and it was the only pay-per-view event the UFC held in Brazil this year, according to MMA Fighting.

The card featured featherweight champion Jose Aldo beating Chad Mendes in his seventh title defense and Phil Davis beating Glover Teixeira via unanimous decision in the co-main event, bringing his record up to 3-0.

The drug tests held for UFC 179 were for performance-enhancing drugs of abuse, and Aldo, Mendes, Davis and Teixeira went through additional tests for human growth-hormone and erythropoietin (EPO), MMAjunkie reported.

The CABMMA's recent testing follow the increasing number of drug tests being held for competitors involved in high-level fights in the U.S.

MMA fans in Brazil will be happy to hear that they will only have to wait another month for UFC to hold another event in the country, MMA Fighting. The main event will have Lyoto Machida take on C.B. Dolloway.
