'19 Kids & Counting' Canceled?: Thousands Sign Petition to Keep Show on The Air

Getting the Duggars off the air won't be an easy task.

Earlier this week, a petition on Charge.org, started by Jim Wissick, urged the TLC network to cancel its popular show "19 Kids and Counting," claiming that the family promotes "fear-mongering against gays and transgendered people."

Michelle Duggar shared a link to a counter-petition urging fans to help save the show, Us Weekly reported. The petition, found on ipetitions.com, claims that the family is being attacked by "anti-marriage advocates for standing for traditional marriage."

"We commend The Duggar Family for their brave stand in defending marriage as ordained by God between one man and one woman," the petition noted. "No individual's sexual behavior and chosen lifestyle has the right to redefine marriage."

The petition, which has gained over 15,000 signatures as of Friday, concluded by asking fans to give their signature in support of the "Duggars' traditional Christian views on life."

However, the anti-Duggars petition has gained over 135,000 signatures since its release on Aug. 20. Wissick cited a statement in claiming that Michelle warned the "Fayetteville residents that transgender people are child predators."

"End LGBTQ fear mongering by the Duggars," Wissick's petition read. "The Duggars have been using their fame to promote discrimination, hate, and fear-mongering against gays and transgendered people. You need to take a stand on the side of justice and cancel their show."

Neither the Duggars nor TLC has commented on either petition.
