Carrie Underwood And Mike Fisher’s Secret Mission To Learn The Sex Of Their Baby

Like a scene from a spy movie, Carrie Underwood and NHL hockey star husband Mike Fisher asked their doctor not to tell them the sex of their baby-but, instead, to write the name on a piece of paper and slip into an envelope. Cue the "Mission Impossible" theme song.

Underwood revealed they could have found out right there in the doctor's office, but they determined it was "kind of a sterile place," so they opted to choose a more intimate setting for the baby reveal.

But, wait! Didn't the singer and the hockey player ever look at the sonograms of the baby? Sure they did. So, how could they not know the baby's gender from those photos?

"We got to see all the pictures and everything. It was really cool to see that, but whenever she'd get near those parts, we would look away," Underwood told US Magazine.

The less sterile setting the couple chose for the great reveal was a local restaurant while they were on a date night.

"[It was] just the two of us in a nicer setting, but we both knew," explained the "Something in the Water" singer to ABC. "So, that was just confirming our suspicions. We didn't really speak of it before because we were both just like, 'Whatever. It's all good.' But we knew it was a boy."

Underwood kept the news from Brad Paisley, her co-host of the 48 Annual Country Music Association Awards, until just before the Nov. 5 show went live.

"Brad's got loose lips. He's a blabber mouth!" she joked. "So, I was like, 'I'm not gonna tell you until we're ready for the rest of the world to know, because I know you'll tell people.'"
