Lauren Conrad Talks About Life Away From the Cameras, Her Blossoming Career and Finding True Love in July Issue of Marie Claire

Lauren Conrad went from reality TV star to fashion designer, author and real estate mogul right before everyone's eyes. She decided to leave behind her catty, clubbing days and switch gears to a more professional, polished look and doesn't regret her choice not one bit. In the July issue of Marie Claire magazine she opens up about love, life and finding the perfect guy.

She told the magazine in order for her to reach the amount of success she has she doesn't feel she had to stay on the show to get that even though a lot of people wanted her to remain in front of the camera. She did admit, however, that she used her time on MTV to really go after her goals.

"Lauren wasn't a great student - she wasn't that interested," Jim Conrad, her father, told Marie Claire. "We figured out along the way that she was an artist and her real love was fashion."

Together Conrad and her father geared her reality TV appearances toward her goal of running her own business while her other cast mates often put their personal drama right in front of the cameras.

The former "Hills" star does admit that she felt the highly-edited MTV shows only showed one side of herself and for the first time she wants to "reveal a fuller picture of herself," the Daily Mail reports. In her new book "Infamous" Conrad shares her experiences of being in front of the camera for so many years.

"I only ever got to tell half my story," she told the magazine. "People are very quick to judge these days, especially behind the anonymity of a screen name. It's very easy to say 'I hate her. I hate what she wore, she seems mean.' But you're only seeing a small fraction of my life."

Conrad added that throughout those years she did have to learn how to turn a blind eye to some of the downfalls of being famous and constantly being in the spotlight.

"There is always gonna be a little bit of negativity which comes with the territory. You realize it doesn't matter. It's so simple, but it's a very hard lesson to learn," she said. "At the end of the day, it doesn't really affect you in any way."

Switching gears she opened about her love life and told the magazine about how she thinks she has finally found the perfect guy for her.

"He is very good for me because we have a lot more in common as far as where we grew up. It's the first time I'm with someone and I'm not explaining things," the "Laguna Beach" star said about her romance with boyfriend William Tell, a 33-year-old aspiring lawyer. "He also has experience in the entertainment industry, so he understands a lot of things that people don't always get."

Conrad said she is now content on focuses on her relationship with Tell and her career. The once famous reality TV star now sells and buys homes, designs the "LC Lauren Conrad" collection for Kohl's and is a published author.
